Peter talks Breaking Dawn, Nurse Jackie & more in web chat with fans

Peter Facinelli took part in a live web chat with fans on 20th April. He discussed Breaking Dawn, Nurse Jackie, Accidentally In Love and more.

12:36
Energizer Bunny:
Hi everyone, we'll be getting started shortly at 1 p.m. EST.
12:59
Energizer Bunny:
Just back from the Grand Canyon, Peter Facinelli, Twilight Saga and Nurse Jackie star, is excited to chat with all of you! Long before you knew him as a vampire, Peter was an outdoor enthusiast. As a devoted husband and father of three – and a proud RV owner – Peter enjoys spending time in the great outdoors with his family. Now he’s teaming up with Energizer to help preserve America’s national parks for future generations. Now, on to the questions!
1:01
Comment From Calista
What is the best part of being part of the twilight saga??
1:02
Peter Facinelli:
The fans are really great. They've been really supportive and I appreciate all of them.
1:03
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Emory from Facebook: What experiences made you enjoy and appreciate the outdoors so much? Thanks for helping preserve the National Parks!
1:03
Peter Facinelli:
When I was younger my dad had a cabin in the woods and we would go there during the summer. It was about 20 acres of woods and I would go exploring. I became exposed to the outdoors at a young age and I try to expose my family to that as well.
1:04
Comment From Kimberly
how are you and carlisle similar and different?
1:05
Peter Facinelli:
I like to think I have his passion. Carlisle is the head of a family. I have children so I can relate. I don't have blond hair and he's an older soul than I am. I also don't wear cardigan sweaters in real life.
1:05
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Vicki from Facebook: Hi Peter, greetings from Oregon. I would like to know what your funniest camping experience has been.
1:07
Peter Facinelli:
Well I have a few. I got pulled over doing 90 mph in a motor home once. The police officer was very upset with me. When he knocked on the door it was like he was knocking on our house door. He had apparently been following for 5 miles and nearly called in helicopter support. I didn't have a rearview mirror and couldn't see him! Another time, the whole muffler dropped off the RV and sparks were flying. I tried to tie it up with a bungie cord, but that didn't work for long.
1:08
Comment From Melissa
How did you first get discovered on your acting talent? Cause I want to be a actress myself. Do you have any tips for mr?
1:10
Peter Facinelli:
I went to NYU and studied theater there. My second job was a little indie film, but my first big role was on Law & Order and Dick Wolf noticed me. Then he offered me another job and I continued to work rather than going back to school. I'm about 15 credits short from graduating NYU. Dick Wolf is the reason I don't have a diploma, but he's also the reason I have my SAG card. The best tip I can give is to act anywhere you can, whether it's a local play or independent film and keep working at it! It's an art form and life-long dedication.
1:11
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Sheila from Facebook - I loved your character Carlisle! I am extremely happy to hear you are an outdoor enthusiast. My husband and I bought our first camper 3 yrs ago. Where is your favorite place to camp? How is Energizer helping to preserve our parks?
1:14
Peter Facinelli:
My favorite place to camp is going anywhere in my RV. I like not knowing exactly where I'm going. I like the freedom of taking a journey. There's over 300 national parks in the U.S. and that experience and surprise of visiting a park is part of the beauty of it. Energizer is helping to support the parks through clean up events and donations to the National Park Foundation which can bee redeemed by buying specially marked packs. You can text BUNNY to 27722 to donate a $1 to the foundation.

Comment From Onix
What will you miss most now that you are finishing the Twilight Saga?
1:15
Peter Facinelli:
I don't know, I'm not sure because it hasn't sunk in that's it's over yet. Even though filming is pretty much over there are still two more films coming out. What I won't miss is shooting in the rain and mud!
1:15
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Kristen from Facebook - How do you deal with all the pressure from the fans and the paparazzi? You do an amazing job as Carlisle in the Twilight saga.
1:17
Peter Facinelli:
It's really about making a connection with fans and I'm happy to stop and give autographs. It's hard though because there are times we can't stop. One time it was pouring rain and a girl was calling to us and we just had to keep going. That was the one time we didn't stop and the paparazzi ran with it calling us jerks!
1:17
Comment From Jessi
What is the hardest part about being such a successful actor?
1:18
Peter Facinelli:
Not being to spend as much time with my family. I'm always traveling and I wish I had more time to spend with them. I try to go home as often as I can. Sometimes I'll fly home just to have dinner with the kids and go back.
1:19
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Angela from Facebook - Hi! I'm a big fan as well, from the Twilight saga, to Nurse jackie, I was even hoping you would get the lead in "something borrowed"...I am also a HUGE fan of your wife, since the good ole 90210 days and then "what I like about you"...to all her other movie roles...and of course DWTS!..my question is then- Have you been asked to do dancing with the stars yet, and would you consider doing DWTS...and 2 (if Ok)- Have you and Jenny made any movies together or would you guys? ♥ you both!
1:20
Peter Facinelli:
No I have not been asked to be on Dancing with the Stars, I'm more of a freestyle dancer anyways - my moves can't be contained! My wife and I met on a TV movie back in 1995. We haven't worked together since, but I did write a Hallmark Channel special that my wife starred in. It was called Accidentally in Love.
1:21
Comment From Sally
Is there an actor/director you would really like to work with?

Peter Facinelli:
You know, the reason I got into acting was because of a movie called Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. I would love to work with Robert Redford and would have loved to work with Paul Newman. I also love Sean Penn.
1:22
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Cindy from Facebook - Love you as Carlisle. What’s the best way to get started doing stuff outdoors on a tight budget?
1:23
Peter Facinelli:
The national parks are a great place to start - they're not that expensive. We own the parks because we pay taxes and the parks are right in our backyard. I would go visit a national park and explore. Borrow a tent if you have to. It a lot of fun. This week it's free to visit a national park because it's National Park Week!
1:24
Comment From Kelsie
what is one thing you have always wanted to do but have yet to do it?
1:25
Peter Facinelli:
I'd like to direct. I've never had the opportunity but it's a goal of mine in the future. I also haven't had the opportunity to go camping with my new RV solar panel, which I'm excited to do. I also have never done speedo modeling.
1:26
Comment From Mylinda
What has been your favorite role that you have portrayed so far?
1:27
Peter Facinelli:
My favorite role would be the role of a father. In acting terms, it's hard to say because each of my films have been so different and I've enjoyed all my characters. It's like asking to choose a favorite kid. They're all special in different ways.
1:27
Comment From Lisa
Coop vs. Carlisle, who wins the fight?
1:28
Peter Facinelli:
I would have to go with Coop. I'll tell you why - because at some point Carlisle would be so frustrated with Coop he would try to kill him, but he would end up making Coop immortal. So he would have to deal with him forever.
1:28
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Amanda from Facebook - Hi Peter! Absolutely LOVE your work! Huge fan of Twilight. Anywho, I know this may be a loaded question but who is/was your favorite person to work with on Twilight? Keep up the good work with everything, movies, shows, and causes all included. :D
1:30
Peter Facinelli:
I actually like the scenes where we were all together. The energy in the room was great and it felt complete. I only had individual scenes with Kristen, Rob and Elizabeth. I really enjoyed them all.

Comment From Petter Fan!

Comment From Rabia
Are you, yourself Team Edward or Team Jacob?
1:32
Peter Facinelli:
Interesting you would ask. One of my daughters Luca is here now! She says "Twilight is awesome". Fiona, my 4-year-old, said the other day "I want to watch Twilight again." She likes the scary parts. My middle daughter Lola goes to sleep in Carlisle shirts. All my daughters are with Team Carlisle!
1:33
Peter Facinelli:
I'm team family
1:33
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Emily from Facebook - which hair color you prefer, brown or blonde? We're all so excited for Loosies, could you tell us when it's going to come out?
1:35
Peter Facinelli:
I don't really have a hair color preference. I enjoy being able to swap hair colors in my roles. The blond hair for Carlisle was cool and physically different than anything I'd played before. I'm very much excited for Loosies. I wrote, produced and starred in it. It's been a tedious process, but very rewarding. I had a lot of say but it was also very collaborative. I'm very happy with where it's at right now and I hope people like it!
1:35
Comment From Marie
Why do you choose RV camping, rather than tent camping?
1:36
Peter Facinelli:
I like the outdoors, but not that much, haha. The amenities and comforts from home are nice to have while still camping responsibly.
1:37
Peter Facinelli:
I also grew up in the city and like to take the city with me when I go camping.
1:37
Comment From PFach
What was the most craziest fan experience you ever had?
1:38
Peter Facinelli:
We had some people show up at my house. I wasn't home and they were asking for me. My wife sent my daughter out there to talk to them and they wanted to take a picture with her! I'm glad I wasn't home.
1:38
Comment From Tori
Do you think your kids will get into acting?
1:39
Peter Facinelli:
I don't know. Whatever makes them happy is what I will support. They're not pursuing it right now. My 13-year-old is actually a very strong songwriter/singer and play guitar. I want them to pursue their passions.
1:39
Comment From Stefanie
What is one of the funniest things that has happened on set of one of the Twilight movies?
1:41
Peter Facinelli:
We were shooting a big stand-off sequence between the Volturi's and the Cullen's and it was a crazy experience because we had 100 people going through hair and makeup in the morning. One of the actors thought it would be funny if we had a dance off. We didn't tell the director and when they yelled action we broke out in dance. It could end up on the DVD extras.
1:41
Comment From KataGirl5
How do you imagine yourself in 5 years' time?
1:42
Peter Facinelli:
I don't even know where I'll be next week! I'm not someone who sits down and sets out long-term goals. I just try to take it day by day.
1:42
Comment From Mel
Which twilight film did you enjoy filming most?
1:43
Peter Facinelli:
They were all different experiences. Each had a different tone and experience with it. I enjoyed parts of all of them. The most recent Breaking Dawn took 6 months to shoot.
1:43
Comment From Jessi
What is your all time favorite movie?
1:44
Peter Facinelli:
I'm a big fan of 70's movies. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Cool Hand Luke. The Dogfather. Midnight Cowboy. The Graduate. I could go on, it's hard to narrow down. There's been so many that are inspirational to me.
1:45
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Harriet from Facebook - Would you like to act in a broadway play?
1:45
Peter Facinelli:
Yeah, if it was the right play. I don't think it would be a musical because I can't carry a tune. I get booed by my family when I sing in the shower.
1:46
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Mary from Facebook - What did you think of being at yesterday's Grand Canyon event?
1:47
Peter Facinelli:
It was amazing and really brought home home how important the national parks are. Staring into the Grand Canyon makes you feel so small in this big world but also makes you feel empowered. It's such an amazing place. Things you do as an individual can lead to bigger grandiose things. Contributing to the now that's positivenergy campaign and texting BUNNY to 27722 can make a big impact.
1:47
Comment From Jessi
what is the biggest lesson you have learned throughout your career?
1:48
Peter Facinelli:
Perseverance. No matter how many times you fall you've got to pick up and keep going just like the Energizer Bunny!
1:48
Comment From Lesley
where is the best place you have ever been?
1:50
Peter Facinelli:
My favorite place in an RV - I took roadtrip from NY to LA and it took 30 days driving 4 hours a day. It was the most fun I've ever had on a vacation. Watching the landscapes and the people change was really interesting and I enjoyed exploring that journey. Even though sometimes your muffler drops out or get pulled over by a police officer...you Keep Going!
1:52
Peter Facinelli:
I stopped in Metropolis, Illinois "Hometown of Superman". That's part of the fun. There was a 60 foot tall Superman. I got my daughter a Superman outfit. It was a lot of fun. I have to recommend the Grand Canyon though. Photos don't do it justice.
1:52
Energizer Bunny:
Question from Jewlz from Facebook: What is your favorite thing to do when your home with your kids and your wife?
1:53
Peter Facinelli:
We have movie night every Friday night and we make popcorn. the kids look forward to it all week. My 4-year-old wishes it was movie night every night! She's always asking "is it movie night?" It's fun to just hang out and relax with them.
1:53
Comment From AngelaW
Have you ever wanted to do anything else career wise? if so, what?
1:55
Peter Facinelli:
I'm quite happy with what I'm doing and I feel very fortunate to do what I love to do and make a living out of it. When I was younger I knew no one in the business. I would tell my parents I wanted to be a lawyer and actually studied for a year in college in pre-law, then I transferred to NYU to study theater. I told my parents to be a good lawyer you have to be a good actor and they bought it! I'm grateful it worked out and feel very lucky.
1:55
Comment From Tori C
What your favorite Italian dish?
1:57
Peter Facinelli:
Pizza! No, I really like risotto and chicken parmesan.
1:57
Energizer Bunny:
Looks like we have time for one more question.
1:58
Comment From Kori
What was the first job you had?
1:59
Peter Facinelli:
I was a newsboy and delivered the Daily News. I was terrible! I would miss whole blocks and then customers would call my place and complain. Sometimes I forgot to put the papers in plastic bags to protect from the rain. I only made enough to pay back.
2:00
Peter Facinelli:
Thanks to everyone for tuning in! I had a great time and I loved all your great questions.
